God is not the origin of your fears

GOD IS NOT THE ORIGIN OF YOUR FEARS

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timoteo 1:7 NLT)

-Fear paralyzes you.
-Timidity steals your opportunities.
-Fear enslaves you and makes you live at the mercy of what intimidates you.

Where do fear and timidity come from?

The first thing I would like to clear up is that God is not the origin of our fears.

They can be the result of bad experiences, abuses you may have suffered, the culture in which you grew up in, the examples of timid parents who never dared to do much in life out of fear of failure or what others may say. Fears can also be the result of mistakes we may have made.

There can be different causes of the fears in your life, but God is not the one who causes fear, because He is love and “perfect love casts out fear.”  (1 John 4:17)

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timoteo 1:7 NLT)

What is what God has given you?
Spirit of power. You can do all things in Christ.
Spirit of love. There is no fear in love.
Spirit of self-discipline. You can develop calmness, control, and self-discipline because God has already given it to you.

For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. (2 Timoteo 1:7 NLT)

Think about it:

What fears do you need to confront with power, love, and self-control?
What things had you stopped doing because of fear?
