The Good Leader – Part 2
“And he assigned seventy thousand of them to bear burdens, eighty thousand to quarry stone in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.”
2 Chronicles 2:18 (NKJV)
Leading large projects requires wisdom, organization, and the ability to manage teams effectively. Solomon not only had a clear vision but also implemented practical strategies to lead 153,600 workers without falling into chaos.
Four Leadership Strategies of Solomon
- He Organized Teams
Solomon structured his team into three groups:
- Laborers responsible for general physical work.
- Stonecutters specialized in construction.
- Foremen responsible for supervising the work.
Organization is key in any project; without structure, effort is wasted.
- He Clarified Roles
Each person knew exactly what they had to do.
“He assigned… laborers,… stonecutters… and foremen.” (2 Chronicles 2:18, NLT)
An effective leader avoids confusion by ensuring that everyone has well-defined roles. When people know what is expected of them, they can perform at their best.
- He Delegated Responsibilities
Solomon did not try to do everything alone; he trusted his team and distributed the work effectively.
“And he assigned seventy thousand of them to bear burdens, eighty thousand to quarry stone in the mountains, and three thousand six hundred to oversee them.” (2 Chronicles 2:18, NLT)
Delegating does not mean losing control; it means multiplying the team’s efficiency. A good leader understands that they cannot do everything alone.
- He Supervised with Structured Leadership
Solomon established a supervision system with 3,600 foremen. He did not just organize and delegate but also implemented a control mechanism to ensure the project’s success. A leader does not simply give orders but ensures that things are done with excellence.
When we organize, clarify, delegate, and supervise wisely, we can lead large projects without exhausting ourselves. Let’s learn from Solomon and apply these principles in our lives and leadership.

Think About It:
• Are you organizing your team or project well, or is there chaos in the structure?
• Does each person on your team know exactly what they should do?
• What responsibilities can you delegate today to become a more effective leader?
