They Do Not Return Empty

THEY DO NOT RETURN EMPTY

“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)
Words have a profound impact, whether they are divine or human. The Word of God, with its authority and power, always fulfills the purpose for which it was sent. However, this verse also reminds us of the responsibility we have as human beings when we speak, as our words can bring life or death, build up or tear down.
Three Reflections on the Power of Words

  1. The Authority of God’s Word
The Word of God has unmatched power. When we declare it with faith, it operates in both the natural and spiritual realms, accomplishing miracles and transformations. God invites us to trust His Word as a source of guidance, promise, and hope.
  2. The Impact of Our Words
Although our words do not carry the divine power of God’s Word, they profoundly affect others and ourselves. As Proverbs 18:21 says, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue.” What we say can build or destroy relationships, inspire or discourage, bring peace or cause conflict.
  3. The Responsibility to Speak with Wisdom
It is easy to speak impulsively during moments of stress or pressure, but as children of God, we must strive to speak words that reflect His love and wisdom. The words we use should bring joy, peace, encouragement, and divine direction to those around us.

Lord, help me to guard my words every day so that what I say may be a blessing to my home, my friends, and my community. May my words produce in myself and others: love, joy, patience, kindness, vision, success, faith, enthusiasm, strength, courage, acceptance, affirmation, validation, wisdom, and purpose in You.
“So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”
Isaiah 55:11 (NKJV)
Reflect on this

  1. How have your recent words impacted those around you?
  2. What practical steps can you take to speak with more love and wisdom, especially in moments of pressure?
  3. What promises from God’s Word can you declare today over your life and the lives of others?
