BE JUST
This is what the Lord says:
- Be fair and just.
- Do what is right!
- Help those who have been robbed;
- Rescue them from their oppressors.
- Give up your evil deeds!
- Do not mistreat foreigners,
- Orphans, or widows.
- Stop murdering the innocent!
Jeremiah 22:3 (NLT)
Justice is an essential attribute of God’s character and a clear command for His people. God expects us to live justly and fairly, reflecting His love and truth in our relationships and daily actions. His Word calls us to practice justice at all times, especially in favor of the most vulnerable.
1. Justice Must Be Our Standard of Life
God calls us to be fair and do what is right in all our decisions. Justice is not optional for believers; it is a principle that must guide our actions in the workplace, family, and society.
2. Defending the Helpless Is Part of Our Calling
God commands us to help those who have been victims of injustice and rescue the oppressed. We cannot be indifferent to the suffering of others. As believers, we are called to speak up and take action on behalf of those who are hurting.
3. We Must Abandon Evil Deeds
Justice is not only about doing good but also about stopping what is wrong. God calls us to turn away from every practice that harms others and to live with integrity in every aspect of our lives.
4. God Protects and Cares for the Most Vulnerable
God has a special concern for foreigners, orphans, and widows. As followers of Christ, we must reflect that same compassionate heart, avoiding any form of discrimination or mistreatment toward those in need.
5. Life Is Sacred, and We Must Protect It
God commands us to stop shedding innocent blood. From the Old Testament to the New, the Bible teaches that life is a sacred gift from God, and we must protect it in all its forms.
This is what the Lord says:
- Be fair and just.
- Do what is right!
- Help those who have been robbed;
- Rescue them from their oppressors.
- Give up your evil deeds!
- Do not mistreat foreigners,
- Orphans, or widows.
- Stop murdering the innocent!
Jeremiah 22:3 (NLT)
Think About It:
- In what ways can you practice justice in your daily environment?
- Are there vulnerable people around you who need your help?
- What wrong actions do you need to abandon to live according to God’s justice?
