Decide

Decide

“Then I explained to the nobles and officials and all the people, ‘The work is very spread out, and we are widely separated from each other along the wall. When you hear the blast of the trumpet, rush to wherever it is sounding. Then our God will fight for us!'”
Nehemiah 4:19–20 (NLT)

In the midst of a great reconstruction project, Nehemiah spoke clearly to the people: it was time to act, to move, to decide. They could no longer remain isolated, nor wait for things to resolve themselves. This call is also for us today. The sound of the trumpet represents the opportunity to unite, to respond to the call, to move forward with direction. To rebuild the walls of our lives and cities, we need three things: to decide, to prioritize, and to trust.
Decide
Indecision is one of the most subtle forms of stagnation. When we don’t decide, we remain motionless. Overanalyzing can lead to paralysis. Today is the day to decide: to grow, to heal, to move forward, to get married, to serve, to take that next step of faith, to join a growth group (gdc), or to actively engage in this eight-week series.
Prioritize
Time will always be limited, but our priorities reveal what we truly value. If God, your spiritual growth, and community are important to you, you will find time for them. Prioritize your gdc, your companions, your time with God. Prioritizing is a decision with direction.
Trust
Trusting can hurt, especially if you’ve been wounded. But isolating yourself is not the solution. God created us to live in community. The enemy wants you to stay alone, but God calls you to draw near, to run toward the sound of the trumpet, toward the community, toward your team, toward the place where He wants to use you.
When you hear the sound of the trumpet, run. It is God’s call to rebuild what once was broken. Don’t do it alone—do it in unity. God will fight for you when you decide to move forward with others.

Think About It:

  1. What decision have I been postponing that I need to take today with courage?
  2. Am I prioritizing what truly builds up my spiritual life and community?
  3. Am I willing to trust again, join others, and run toward the sound of the trumpet?
