Pure Lies
“I replied, ‘There is no truth in any part of your story. You are making up the whole thing.’ They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination.”
Nehemiah 6:8–9 (NLT)
While Nehemiah was rebuilding the walls of Jerusalem, he faced opposition, rumors, threats, and manipulation. But he did not allow himself to be intimidated. His response was clear and firm: “There is no truth in any part of your story.” In other words, he discerned that what seemed dangerous or impossible was only a disguised distraction. That same strategy still operates today. The enemy wants to discourage you, stop you, steal your focus, and make you believe that it’s not worth continuing. But if you are walking in God’s will, you can recognize that all of that… is pure lies!
• Difficult circumstances cannot stop what God has already strengthened in you
Though they may seem like mountains, God has already equipped you to overcome. You can do all things through Christ who gives you strength (Philippians 4:13, NLT).
• Voices without faith do not determine your destiny
Some will say it can’t be done, that it’s too hard, or that it doesn’t make sense. But if God has promised it, He will fulfill it. The rest is pure lies. Nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37, NLT).
• The enemy only seeks to discourage you; he has no authority over you
Satan cannot take away your purpose, but he will try to make you doubt it. Do not believe his lies. The Lord will work out His plans for your life (Psalm 138:8, NLT).
• Discouragement is a strategy to hinder your spiritual progress
Taking part in the series Healing Decisions is not just about attending; it’s about rebuilding your life, restoring your relationships, and strengthening your faith. The enemy knows that, which is why he’ll try to distract, demotivate, or cool you down. Don’t believe him: it’s pure lies!
• The right response is to continue with greater determination
Nehemiah didn’t lose focus. Neither should we. This is the season to move forward with more determination than ever, trusting that God is with us.
“I replied, ‘There is no truth in any part of your story. You are making up the whole thing.’ They were just trying to intimidate us, imagining that they could discourage us and stop the work. So I continued the work with even greater determination.”
Nehemiah 6:8–9 (NLT)
Think About It:
- What voices or circumstances have I been believing that are actually pure lies?
- Am I allowing discouragement to steal my focus from God’s purpose?
- How can I act today with greater determination to move forward in my growth and restoration?
