Gratitude

Gratitude

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 100:4-5 (NLT)

Gratitude is not just a reaction to the good we receive; it is a way of life that honors God. The psalmist invites us to enter God’s presence with thanksgiving because recognizing what He has done is the gateway to a deeper relationship with Him. Gratitude transforms our hearts, reminds us of the eternal in the midst of the temporary, and moves us to respond with obedience and devotion. Being thankful is not a moment—it is a lifestyle that connects us to God’s will.

  1. Gratitude and the eternal
We are thankful because God is eternal and good. His Word, His love, and His faithfulness endure forever.

Through verses like 1 Thessalonians 1:2-3 and Philippians 1:3-6, we see how Paul expressed constant gratitude for those who walked with him in the faith. In the same way, we should give thanks for those who build us up, support us, and serve alongside us.

  1. Gratitude and circumstances
Even in the midst of difficulties, we can be thankful—not for what hurts, but because God is with us through it all. Gratitude in times of trial is a declaration of trust. It reminds us that there is a greater purpose in what we are experiencing and that God is working even when we cannot see it.
  2. Gratitude and salvation
Above all, we are thankful for our salvation in Christ. We have been rescued, forgiven, and called to a new life. That salvation is the greatest gift we have received and deserves a daily response of gratitude.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving; go into his courts with praise. Give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good. His unfailing love continues forever, and his faithfulness continues to each generation.
Psalm 100:4-5 (NLT)

Think About It:
• Am I living with gratitude or taking God’s blessings for granted?
• What person can I thank today for their influence in my spiritual life?
• What will be my next practical step to show gratitude to God for His salvation?
