Some Will Turn Away

Some Will Turn Away

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.
1 Timothy 4:1 (NLT)

From the earliest days, the Holy Spirit warned of a painful reality: not everyone will reach the end of the journey. Some will turn away. This word is a call to vigilance—to guard what we believe and how we live. In life, we see this pattern repeated: people who start with passion, vision, and dedication but drift away due to distractions, discouragement, or deception. The warning is not to make us afraid, but to keep us firm and to ask for God’s grace to persevere to the end.

  1. Some turn away from the original plan
Not everyone reaches what God intended for them. Distractions, sin, lack of discipline, or the wrong voices can pull someone away from their purpose. We must ask God to constantly remind us of the path He has set for our lives.
  2. Some start well but do not finish
Whether in business, marriage, a career, or service to God, starting is not the same as finishing. Many quit when difficulty, fatigue, or disappointment comes. Perseverance requires character and dependence on the Lord.
  3. True faith can be replaced by deception
Paul is clear: there are deceptive spirits and false teachings. Not everything that seems spiritual comes from God. That is why we need to remain in the Word and ask for discernment so we do not turn away from the truth.
  4. Faithfulness is the result of grace
We cannot remain steadfast by our own strength. Only God’s grace sustains us. That is why we pray: “Lord, give me Your grace so I will not turn away. Help me to stay faithful, focused, and surrendered to Your will.”
  5. The goal is to reach the end faithful
It is not about how many start the race, but how many finish with their faith intact. Let us live determined to please God until our last day—without turning back, without turning away.

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons.
1 Timothy 4:1 (NLT)

Think About It:
• Am I living with the intention of finishing well what God began in me?
• Am I feeding my faith daily so I will not be easily deceived?
• Do I need to ask for God’s grace today to remain firm in His purpose?
