How She Praised the Lord!
Then He touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!
Luke 13:13 (NLT)
A woman who had been bent over for eighteen years encountered Jesus… and everything changed. There was no long speech or complicated ritual—just a touch. That touch was enough to transform everything: her physical posture, her emotional state, and her worship. The Gospel of Luke reminds us that when the Lord touches us, there is restoration, direction, and genuine praise. This passage is an invitation to remember what God has done in us, to live with gratitude, and to express that gratitude through praise.
- The touch that changes everything
“Then He touched her…”
Jesus did not ignore her or rebuke her. He touched her. And in that touch, everything changed.
o When God touches our lives, there is healing.
o The things that were stuck begin to move forward.
o Chaos finds order.
o Sadness is replaced with peace.
There is nothing like a touch from heaven to restore what was broken. - Standing straight: living with purpose
“…and instantly she could stand straight.”
When God touched my heart, my life was also set straight.
o I was freed from resentment.
o I was able to forgive.
o I began to live with purpose.
Now, serving God by serving people is my greatest pleasure.
Everything I do, I aim to do for the glory of God and the good of others.
His touch not only healed me—it gave me direction. - Praise is the natural response of a grateful heart
“How she praised God!”
When I remember where the Lord brought me from, I cannot stay silent.
o How can I not praise when I enter His house, thinking of how much He has blessed me?
o How can I not sing when I remember what my life was like before Christ?
o How can I not share with others what He has done for me, so they too can experience a new life?
Then He touched her, and instantly she could stand straight. How she praised God!
Luke 13:13 (NLT)
Think About It:
• Am I living with gratitude for God’s transforming touch in my life?
• Does my lifestyle reflect that my heart has been set straight by the Lord?
• Am I sharing with others what God has done in me, so they too can praise Him?
