Every Morning Early
Every day the crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.
Luke 21:38 (NLT)
The people in Jesus’ time had the habit of seeking Him early in the temple to listen to Him. This detail shows us the importance of starting each day in the presence of God. Before worries and activities fill our minds, we can set apart quality time to pray and read the Word. In the midst of such a fast-paced and distracted world, the example of these crowds reminds us that giving the Lord our first time is an act of love and priority.
- Morning is a time of quality
Early in the day, the mind is clear and the heart receptive. Before the burdens of the day press upon us, we can clearly hear the voice of God and enjoy His peace. - Jesus must be our first appointment
If the crowds made room to hear Him each morning, how much more should we value our personal encounter with Him. Prayer and Bible reading are the foundation of a strong life in faith. - Discipline becomes delight
At first it may be difficult, but over time the habit of seeking God early turns into joy. The soul learns to expect that encounter, and the heart delights in it daily. - The morning sets the course of the day
Starting with prayer not only brings peace but also direction. What we hear from God early can guide our decisions and protect us from the stress and anxiety that try to govern our hours. - God’s grace sustains our consistency
It is not by human strength that we maintain discipline, but by the Lord’s grace. He helps us sustain this habit, even when routine or weariness try to hinder it.
Rising early to meet with God is sowing the first seed of the day into good soil. And just like the crowds who listened to Jesus in the temple, we will find life, direction, and strength in His presence.
Every day the crowds gathered at the Temple early each morning to hear him.

Think About It:
- What benefits have you experienced when seeking God early in the morning?
- What obstacles often prevent you from having your daily appointment with Him?
- How can you establish a firm and joyful habit of giving your first time to be with Jesus?
