Kidron and Olives

Kidron and Olives

After saying these things, Jesus crossed the Kidron Valley with his disciples and entered a grove of olive trees.
John 18:1 (NLT)

The Word shows us that before being arrested, Jesus crossed the Kidron Valley to reach the grove of olives. Kidron means “darkness,” while the olives represent oil, anointing, life, and abundance. This passage reminds us that in life we go through dark seasons of weariness and scarcity, but if we keep walking with Jesus, we arrive at places of shade, rest, abundance, and anointing. The valley is never our final destination; it is only the path toward what God has already prepared for us.

Just as Jesus crossed Kidron toward the olives, we too can trust that God is leading us from darkness to light, from pain to peace, from scarcity to abundance, and from weariness to rest in His presence.

After saying these things, Jesus crossed the Kidron Valley with his disciples and entered a grove of olive trees.
John 18:1 (NLT)

Think About It:

  1. What “Kidron Valley” are you crossing in your life today?
  2. Are you trusting that God is leading you toward a “grove of olives” filled with anointing and rest?
  3. What practices of prayer and intimacy with God can you strengthen to receive the fresh oil of the Holy Spirit each day?
