Rod and Hand

Then the Lord asked him, “What is that in your hand?” “A shepherd’s staff,” Moses replied.
Exodus 4:2 (NLT)

When God called Moses to deliver His people, He did not ask him to have all the resources in the world or to possess extraordinary knowledge. He only asked what he had in his hand, and with that simple staff, God displayed His power and fulfilled an eternal purpose. This passage reminds us that God does not expect us to carry all the solutions of the world but to use what He Himself has placed in our hands.

• God asks you: “What do you have?”
  Many times, we dream of having absolute authority, unlimited money, or the knowledge to solve all of society’s problems. However, God will not hold us accountable for what He did not give us, but for what He placed in our hands. He entrusted us with specific gifts, talents, and resources to fulfill our purpose on earth.
• Each one has their staff
  Not all of us are called to the same field. The staff of politics, technology, or business will not work in every hand. Moses had a shepherd’s staff because that was his assignment. Discovering your “staff” means recognizing the gifts, abilities, and calling that God has entrusted to you.
• The right hand with the right staff
  A powerful staff in the wrong hands will have no impact. Likewise, the right person without the proper tool will not accomplish the purpose. Success comes when we put God’s gifts into action within the place He has called us.
• Resources are part of your staff
  The staff also represents what you already have: your experience, your knowledge, your influence, your material resources. They may not seem enough, but in God’s hands they can unleash miracles, open doors, and transform lives.
• The staff must be used
  If Moses had kept the staff instead of using it, he would never have seen God’s miracles. In the same way, it is not enough to recognize our gifts—we must exercise them. When we put into practice what God has given us, His power is manifested, and we fulfill our purpose.

Today God reminds you that you do not need what is in the hands of others, but to use with faith what He has already placed in yours.

2. Are you using it to fulfill the purpose He gave you, or have you kept it hidden?
