“I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith.”
John 16:1 (NLT)

Words have tremendous power. With them we can build or destroy, lift up or tear down, encourage or discourage. Jesus Himself used His words to strengthen His disciples, assuring them that they were not alone, but that the Holy Spirit would come as Comforter and Advocate to be with them. In the same way, our words can sustain the faith of those around us or, on the contrary, weaken it.

Just as Jesus spoke to His disciples so they would not abandon their faith, we too can be bearers of words that renew hope and confidence in God. Our words can be a channel of the Holy Spirit to strengthen faith in the midst of any situation.

“I have told you these things so that you won’t abandon your faith.”
John 16:1 (NLT)

Think About It:

  1. What words are you sowing each day in your family, workplace, and church?
  2. Do your conversations strengthen the faith of others or weaken it?
  3. What promises from the Word of God can you begin declaring today over your life and the lives of those around you?
