The Blessing Belongs to Those Whose Hearts Are in Harmony with You
O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you. Psalm 125:4 (NLT)
The psalmist teaches us that blessing belongs to those who are in harmony with God. Being in harmony speaks of being aligned with something or someone—being in agreement, in unity. Every day, we have a choice: we can live in harmony with good or in harmony with evil. We can live aligned with God or aligned with the devil. We can agree with a social system of injustice or align ourselves with the values of a materialistic and corrupt world. But this verse is clear: lasting blessing is reserved for those who choose to live in harmony with God.
- Blessing Is for Those in Harmony with God.
God “does good to those who are good.” And who are the good? Those who have decided to align their heart with His. Goodness is not a self-produced standard, but the result of being in tune with the heart of God. - Harmony Means Feeling What He Feels.
Having a heart in harmony with God means desiring what He desires, loving what He loves, and rejecting what He rejects. It is seeking for our heart to carry the same sounds and sentiments found in the Father’s heart. - Lack of Harmony Produces a Wrong Sound.
When there is no harmony in a musical group, things sound wrong, they aren’t enjoyable, and they can even be irritating to the senses. In the same way, a life that is not aligned with God produces dissonance, conflict, and a lack of peace. - Our Lives Should Sound in Harmony with God.
The desire of our heart should be that the “sounds” of our life—our actions, words, and decisions—would resound in perfect harmony with the heart of God. It becomes a daily prayer: “Lord, I want to be a person whose heart is aligned with Yours.” - Blessing Is the Result of Harmony.
We want God to do good to our home, our family, and our life. For this, we must first seek alignment. Blessing flows naturally when our heart beats in rhythm with His.
This is why the most important question we can ask is not merely how to obtain blessing, but how to align our heart. When we seek His harmony above everything else, His goodness follows us. May the cry of our heart always be to stay in tune with our Lord, so that our life becomes a pleasing melody to Him.
O Lord, do good to those who are good, whose hearts are in tune with you. Psalm 125:4 (NLT)
Think About It:
- In which specific areas do you feel your life is “out of tune” or in dissonance with God’s heart?
- What “sounds” (attitudes, words, habits) of the world have you allowed to align with your life?
- What specific part of your life do you need to align with the Lord’s heart this week?
