From the Heart

From the Heart

Today the LORD your God has commanded you to obey all these decrees and regulations. So be careful to obey them wholeheartedly.
Deuteronomy 26:16 (NLT)

This verse reveals the kind of relationship God desires with us: a genuine, voluntary, and sincere relationship. God is not looking for forced obedience or service out of obligation. Just as in daily life we do not enjoy dealing with people who act unwillingly, God is not pleased with a faith practiced grudgingly. He longs for a surrendered heart, not just correct actions.

God deserves more than correct actions; He deserves our whole heart. Living, serving, and obeying wholeheartedly is the most sincere way to honor Him and to live an authentic and joyful faith.

Today the LORD your God has commanded you to obey all these decrees and regulations. So be careful to obey them wholeheartedly.
Deuteronomy 26:16 (NLT)

Think About It:

  1. In what area of my life am I obeying God out of obligation and not from the heart?
  2. How would my attitude change if I served God and others with deeper inner commitment?
  3. What decision can I make today to love, serve, and obey God with all my heart?
