That Light in My Spirit
The Lord’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive.
Proverbs 20:27 (NLT)
This verse reminds us that God not only speaks to us through His written Word, but also in the deepest part of our being. The human spirit is that inner space where God illuminates, corrects, affirms, and guides. Many times it is not an audible voice, but a clear and deep inner sense that leads us toward what is right or warns us of danger.
- God uses His light to guide us from within
The Lord’s light does not only illuminate external circumstances; it penetrates the human spirit. There, God helps us discern between good and evil, what is beneficial and what is dangerous, what is wise and what is reckless. - That “inner sense” can be spiritual direction
At times we cannot logically explain why something does not give us peace or why we feel confirmation to move forward. That inner sense may be God’s light speaking to our spirit, guiding us with love and care. - Light reveals intentions and protects decisions
God not only shows us the path; He also reveals the motivations of the heart. His light guards us from impulsive decisions and helps us evaluate friendships, investments, relationships, and projects with greater clarity. - Spiritual sensitivity develops through communion
The more we walk with God, the clearer His light becomes within us. Prayer, the Word, and obedience sharpen our ability to hear and discern His direction. - Ignoring the inner light brings consequences
When we silence that inner sense and move forward despite the warning, we often face painful results. God’s light does not limit us; it protects us. It does not confuse us; it brings clarity.
God desires to guide us in a personal and constant way. His light in our spirit is a gift that keeps us aligned with His will and saves us from many unnecessary mistakes when we learn to listen and obey it.
The Lord’s light penetrates the human spirit, exposing every hidden motive.
Proverbs 20:27 (NLT)
Think About It:
- Have I recently ignored that inner sense God has placed in my spirit?
- In what important decision do I need to pause and seek greater clarity from God?
- What spiritual habits can I strengthen to become more sensitive to the Lord’s light in my life?
