The Power of Remembering

The Power of Remembering

“He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee.”
Luke 24:6 (NLT)

To remember is to bring something from the past back to mind; it is to think about it again and relive it in our minds and hearts. We can remember good or bad experiences, moments that bring joy or pain, memories that encourage us or discourage us. The Bible teaches us that not all memories should occupy the same place in our lives; we need to learn how to remember correctly.

Jesus Himself confronted the disciples on the road to Emmaus, not because they were remembering, but because they were remembering incorrectly. He helped them return to the truth and remember what truly gave meaning to everything they were experiencing.

“He isn’t here! He is risen from the dead! Remember what he told you back in Galilee.”
Luke 24:6 (NLT)

Think About It:

  1. What kind of memories are you feeding more often: those that strengthen you or those that weaken you?
  2. Which promises of God do you need to bring back to your memory today?
  3. How would your decisions change if you clearly remembered your purpose each day?
