Be Strong and Courageous
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NLT)
God gave these words to Joshua at a time of great responsibility and uncertainty. He was to lead the people into the Promised Land after the death of Moses. Joshua could have felt incapable or fearful, but God reminded him that his strength would not come from himself, but from the constant presence of the Lord. In the same way, God calls us today to live with courage, not because challenges do not exist, but because He is with us in every step.
- Courage is a command, not an option God did not suggest to Joshua that he be courageous; He commanded it. Courage does not depend on our emotions, but on our decision to trust in God. We can choose to be courageous because we know He is with us.
- God’s presence is our greatest security The key promise is: “the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” No matter the place, the situation, or the challenge, we are never alone. His presence strengthens us and sustains us at all times.
- Courage overcomes fear and discouragement Fear and discouragement are two of the greatest obstacles in our spiritual life. But when we remember that God is with us, we find the strength to move forward, even in the midst of uncertainty.
- Faith impels us to move forward Being strong and courageous does not mean not feeling fear, but moving forward despite it. Faith allows us to trust that God will open the way, provide, and fulfill His promises.
- God empowers us to fulfill our purpose God does not call perfect people; He calls willing people. When He gives us a purpose, He also gives us the necessary strength to fulfill it. Our trust is in Him, not in our own abilities.
God reminds you today that you are not alone. He knows the challenges you face and calls you to walk with faith and courage. Do not allow fear to stop you. Trust in His presence, move forward with faith, and remember that the same God who called Joshua is with you wherever you go.
“This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9 (NLT)
Think About It:
- What situation in my life requires me to be strong and courageous today?
- Am I trusting in God’s presence in the midst of my challenges?
- What step of faith can I take today trusting that God is with me?
