Prayer to Avoid Falling into Temptation

Prayer to Avoid Falling into Temptation

At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.” Luke 22:45-46 (NLT)

Jesus taught His disciples a fundamental truth: prayer is an essential tool for overcoming temptation. At a critical moment, He asked them to pray, not as a religious act, but as spiritual protection. Temptation is a reality that we all face, but God has given us prayer as a means to strengthen our spirit, remain firm, and live in victory.

Spiritual victory does not happen by accident, but through a life of constant prayer. Jesus showed us the way: pray to remain firm. When you make prayer a daily habit, you strengthen yourself, align yourself with God, and receive the strength necessary to overcome any temptation.

At last he stood up again and returned to the disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted from grief. “Why are you sleeping?” he asked them. “Get up and pray, so that you will not give in to temptation.” Luke 22:45-46 (NLT)

Think About It:

  1. Am I making prayer a daily priority in my life?
  2. In what area do I need to pray more to not give in to temptation?
  3. What practical step can I take today to strengthen my prayer life?
