Free from the Enemy’s Tactics
so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are very familiar with his evil schemes. 2 Corinthians 2:11 NLT
In the Christian life, ignoring that we are in a spiritual battle is the first step toward being defeated. The apostle Paul warns the church that the enemy does not always attack in a frontal or obvious way, but instead uses subtle strategies designed to fracture unity and steal the believer’s peace. One of his most effective tactics is taking advantage of unhealed wounds, especially a lack of forgiveness and resentment. When we allow an offense to take root in our heart, we are opening a legal door for Satan to take advantage of our mind and our relationships. Being free requires constant spiritual vigilance and the necessary discernment to identify the threads that the adversary tries to move against us.
- The discernment of schemes The word “plans” or “schemes” suggests an intellectual and cunning design. The enemy studies our weaknesses, our temperament, and our circumstances to launch precise darts. Knowing his tactics does not mean obsessing over him, but rather being so full of the Truth that any lie or strange suggestion is detected immediately. The light of the Word exposes the shadows of deception.
- Forgiveness as a spiritual shield The context of this verse specifically speaks of forgiving a brother. The enemy takes advantage of unresolved conflicts to divide the body of Christ. Forgiveness is not a feeling; it is a decision of faith that closes the door the devil tries to use to destroy our communion. By forgiving, we take away the adversary’s legal right to torment our soul with bitterness.
- Do not give place to discouragement Another common tactic is constant accusation. Satan, the accuser, will try to remind you of your past mistakes so that you feel unworthy of God’s grace. If you manage to identify that those thoughts of condemnation do not come from the Holy Spirit, but from the enemy’s evil plans, you will be able to rise in the righteousness of Christ and regain your position of victory.
- Walking in the unity of the Spirit The enemy knows that a divided house does not prevail. His tactics usually target marriages, families, and congregations. Mutual vigilance and sacrificial love are the best defenses. When we decide to walk in love and transparency, we leave the enemy without arguments and without spaces to hide his traps of division and criticism.
Liberty is not something we gain through our own intelligence, but through our total dependence on God. Being alert does not mean living in fear, but living with wisdom, understanding that the Kingdom of God suffers violence and only the brave take it by force. If today you feel a persistent oppression, a division in your home, or a thought of bitterness that does not let you move forward, stop and evaluate if it is not an external tactic trying to take advantage of you. Submit yourself to God, resist the devil through forgiveness and truth, and he will have to flee. Our victory is assured in Christ, but our responsibility is not to ignore the warnings the Lord has given us to stay firm and constant in His grace.

Think About It:
- Is there any offense or lack of forgiveness in your heart that the enemy is currently using to steal your peace?
- What recurring thoughts of doubt or condemnation have you been accepting as your own, without noticing that they are tactics of the adversary?
- Make the decision today to close any open door through a prayer of forgiveness and renounce all influence of the enemy over your mind and your family.
