Let Go of Control and Trust the Owner

Dear church, one of the greatest emotional and spiritual drains we face today comes from our futile attempt to control everything. We want to secure our children’s future, shield our finances, direct circumstances to our liking, and avoid any kind of uncertainty. However, the obsession with control is nothing more than an illusion that generates anxiety, frustration, and extreme fatigue. King David reminds us in this beautiful psalm of a liberating and absolute truth: we are not the owners of anything in this life, neither of material goods nor of the people we love. When we manage to understand and internalize that God is the rightful owner of everything that exists, the heavy burden of carrying the world on our shoulders vanishes, making way for a deep and restful trust in His sovereignty.
- Recognizing the limits of our humanity Trying to control everything is a sign that we have forgotten our condition as creatures and have tried to usurp the Creator’s place. When we humbly accept that our strength, knowledge, and reach are limited, we stop forcing situations and allow God’s sovereignty to act in the scenarios where we can no longer do anything.
- The danger of false ownership We often suffer because we confuse management with absolute ownership. We fill ourselves with anguish over money, possessions, and even the destiny of our family, as if they depended exclusively on us; but by remembering that everything belongs to the Lord, we learn to enjoy and care for each blessing with open hands, ready to surrender them to His will.
- The peace born from surrender True trust is not demonstrated when everything goes according to our plans, but when things break out of our outline and we still choose to rest. Letting go of the reins of our worries and placing them on the Owner’s altar is not an act of resignation or laziness, but one of the greatest expressions of faith that unleashes God’s supernatural peace in our minds.
- Resting in the Creator’s faithfulness If the entire universe and every living being are under the Lord’s dominion, we can be completely sure that our lives are not drifting by chance. God is not a negligent owner who abandons what belongs to Him; He cares for His own with perfect love, eternal wisdom, and an unwavering commitment to guide us toward His good purpose.
- Living under a steward mentality When we assume our correct role as managers, our daily perspective is completely transformed. We stop living under the stress of accumulation and selfish protection, and we begin to operate in the freedom of handling resources, time, and relationships with generosity, knowing that the ultimate Owner always takes care of backing His servants.
Beloved brothers and sisters, our heavenly Father’s invitation today is to stop fighting battles that do not belong to us and to let go of that heavy need to have the last word in everything. Worrying about tomorrow only wears down our faith and robs us of the joy of the present. Surrender your families, your economic projects, your fears, and your health today into the hands of the only One who has the real power to sustain the entire universe. By voluntarily surrendering control, we are not left unprotected; on the contrary, we are placing our existence in the safest place there is: the sovereign care of our God. Rest in His faithfulness and allow the rightful Owner of your lives to order each of your steps with His infinite grace.
