Caring for Our Blossoming Vineyard

Caring for Our Blossoming Vineyard

Catch all the foxes, those little foxes, before they ruin the vineyard of love, for the grapevines are blossoming! Song of Solomon 2:15 NLT

The book of Song of Solomon is a beautiful poem that illustrates the deep and romantic love between a husband and his wife, but it also gives us a powerful image of Christ’s unconditional love for his church. In the first three chapters, we see the excitement of first love, the constant pursuit, and the joy of being together. However, right in the middle of this spiritual and relational spring, a crucial warning is issued. The “little foxes” represent those things that seem harmless or insignificant, but that can subtly enter to destroy the fruit and beauty of our relationship with God, as well as the peace in our marriage and in our family.

Protecting our vineyard requires daily effort and much intentionality. God has blessed us with beautiful relationships, a clear purpose, and a wonderful calling, and it is our responsibility to watch over them. By catching and eliminating those small destructive habits in time, we ensure that our life, our home, and our faith produce an abundant, sweet, and lasting fruit that gives all the glory to God.
