How to Exercise Your Faith to Move Mountains
Then Jesus said to the disciples, “Have faith in God. I tell you the truth, you can say to this mountain, ‘May you be lifted up and thrown into the sea,’ and it will happen. But you must really believe it will happen and have no doubt in your heart. I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.” Mark 11:22-24 NLT
In chapter 11 of Mark we see Jesus entering Jerusalem and confronting spiritual barrenness by withering the fig tree that only had the appearance of fruit, as well as cleansing the temple to restore its original purpose as a house of prayer. Faced with the disciples’ amazement at seeing the immediate result of His words, the Master takes advantage of that scenario to impart a transforming lesson on spiritual authority and the nature of true faith. He teaches us that God did not call us to live intimidated by giants or problems that seem immovable like mountains, but to exercise a living, active faith founded on the power of Almighty God.
- Put faith exclusively in God Jesus’ first command is clear: have faith in God, not in amulets, human methods, or our own willpower. We cannot exercise a faith we do not possess, nor can we expect spiritual victories when our trust rests in temporary resources; true power lies in the object of our faith, which is the Creator of heaven and earth.
- Eliminate doubt from the heart For faith to operate effectively, it is essential to uproot inner hesitation. Doubt divides the heart and makes a person fickle and unstable like the waves of the sea tossed by the wind. Truly believing implies resting with firmness and conviction in divine promises, without giving room to the fears that the environment tries to sow in our minds.
- Declare with conviction facing the obstacle Jesus emphasized the action of speaking directly to the mountain. Our words loaded with faith have spiritual power to tear down walls and open paths in the midst of adversity. Instead of spending time complaining about the size of our problems, the believer is called to proclaim God’s victory and order in the name of Christ that every hindrance be removed from their family, work, and ministry.
- Exercise faith constantly in prayer Prayer is not a passive ritual, but the channel where we put our trust into action, believing that we have already received what we ask for according to the Father’s will. It is to persevere on our knees with the anticipated certainty of victory, praying until doors open, chains of oppression are broken, and God’s plans are fully accomplished in our lives.
Do not resign yourself to living defeated or allow daily difficulties to become insurmountable mountains in your home or in your projects. If you have felt strengthless in the face of the challenges you encounter, rise up today with the certainty that the Lord fights for you and renews your vigor. Fill your mind with the Scriptures, discard every thought of defeat, and decide to move forward with firm steps, trusting that for the one who believes everything is possible when walking under the covering and backing of Christ.
Think About It:
- What are the “mountains” or problems that seem impossible in your life today and that you need to put in God’s hands?
- Are you praying with the conviction that God already has the answer, or are you allowing doubt to weaken your faith?
- Set aside time today to pray with authority and declare God’s victory over your health, your family, and your projects.
