I Had Only Heard About You Before, but Now My Eyes See You

“I know that you can do anything, and no one can stop you. You asked, ‘Who is this that questions my wisdom with such ignorance?’ It is I—and I was talking about things I knew nothing about, things far too wonderful for me… I had only heard about you before, but now I have seen you with my own eyes. I take back everything I said, and I sit in dust and ashes to show my repentance.” Job 42:2-3, 5-6 NLT

In chapters 41 and 42 of the book of Job, we reach the victorious and transforming outcome of one of the most severe trials recorded in the Holy Scriptures. After contemplating the power of the Creator in the face of untamable creatures like Leviathan, Job finally experiences a total breaking of his self-sufficiency. He sets aside his defensive speeches and understands that, beyond receiving logical answers or explanations for his pain, what his spirit truly needed was a face-to-face encounter with the Almighty God. This conclusion teaches us that seasons of suffering, when processed with humility and surrender, have the power to strip our faith of a superficial, secondhand religiosity, leading us to a deep revelation, a forgiving heart, and a supernatural restoration that multiplies everything the enemy tried to destroy.

Do not allow temporary losses, betrayals, or moments of brokenness to embitter your heart or make you doubt the faithfulness of the Lord. Surrender your arguments today, ask for forgiveness for unnecessary complaints, and decide to forgive those who judged you in your season of pain. When you humble yourself under the mighty hand of God and seek His face with sincerity, He takes charge of turning your mourning into dancing, drying every one of your tears, and unleashing a season of abundant and lasting restoration upon your home and your generations to come.

Think About It:
In what areas of your life do you feel you have had a faith “by hearing” and need a living and personal revelation of God today?
Are there people who hurt or judged you in difficult times whom you need to forgive and intercede for to unleash your own freedom?
Take a moment in prayer to surrender every complaint, recognizing that God can do all things and fully trusting that He will restore your life twofold.
