Stop and Consider the Wonders of God

Pay attention to this, Job. Stop and consider the wonderful miracles of God! Job 37:14 NLT

In chapters 35 to 37 of the book of Job, the young Elihu concludes his speech by confronting both the arguments intended to justify human beings and the complaints born of pain. Instead of continuing to debate earthly dilemmas, Elihu lifts his eyes to creation to recall the incomparable greatness of the Creator: divine control over the clouds, snow, lightning, and the imposing roar of thunder. This passage teaches us that when we are caught in the midst of busyness, confusion, or trials, the best decision we can make as believers is not to insist on our limited human reasoning, but to take a conscious pause to contemplate the unlimited power of God and rest fully in His sovereignty.

  • Learn to stop in the midst of the trial Our human tendency under pressure is to run, worry, and try to solve things with our own limited strength and resources. However, the instruction is clear: we must stop, be silent, and set aside the daily grind to allow the Lord to calm our minds and speak to our hearts.
  • Recognize the greatness and unlimited power of God God governs every detail of nature and the universe with absolute perfection, from the most imposing storms to the heat that stills the winds. When we remember that our heavenly Father is the Almighty and that nothing escapes His control, the difficulties we face in our family, work, or finances no longer seem insurmountable.
  • Keep silent before divine counsel Sometimes we try to advise God or question the way He allows certain seasons in our lives. The wise person recognizes their smallness and admits that they lack the understanding to judge divine ways; keeping silent before God is not resignation, but a reverent act of surrender that frees us from complaining or speaking foolishly.
  • Trust that His purpose is always just and kind Even in the midst of the thickest storms, the Creator acts with justice, righteousness, and mercy. Although our natural eyes may not immediately understand the process of suffering, we can be completely sure that God does not seek to destroy us, but to shape our character, cleanse our motives, and prepare us to fulfill His eternal plan.

Do not allow daily burdens, unresolved questions, or environmental tensions to steal your peace and cloud your spiritual vision. Take a pause today, enter your place of intimacy, and contemplate the majesty of the One who formed you and sustains you with His right hand of power. When you choose to fix your eyes on the faithfulness and wonders of God rather than looking at the size of your giants, His presence restores your strength, drives away all fear, and establishes you on the path to victory.

Think About It:
What daily situations or anxieties are preventing you from stopping to contemplate God’s faithfulness?
Are you trying to resolve your trials in your own wisdom, or are you willing to surrender your arguments to the sovereignty of the Lord?
Take a few minutes today in complete stillness to thank God for His greatness and rest in the fact that He has absolute control over your future.
