With God’s Help We Will Do Mighty Things

Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. Psalm 60:11-12 NLT

As we go through Psalms 59 and 60, we see David facing moments of extreme danger: on one hand, when Saul ordered his house to be watched in order to assassinate him and he found himself surrounded as if by fierce dogs in the night; and on the other, when the nation suffered military setbacks and upheavals in the midst of the war against the Arameans and Edomites. David did not resort to bitter complaining nor did he put his hope in human pacts, but he learned to rise every morning singing to the power and faithfulness of God, recognizing with total clarity that human rescue is temporary and insufficient. These psalms show us how to maintain our composure, strengthen our trust in the Creator, and move forward with a firm step knowing that with divine backing we will emerge victorious.

  • Recognizing the uselessness of human help in decisive battles In the most critical moments of life, earthly resources, social connections, and the opinions of men show their limits. Placing total trust in people or in one’s own strength only produces weariness, disappointment, and anxiety. True help does not come from human strategies, but from humbly turning to God, who is the only sure source of salvation and rescue.
  • God is our stronghold in the midst of a siege When difficulties seem to surround us like wild beasts in the night and the environment becomes hostile or unjust, God manifests Himself as an unshakeable tower of safety. Taking refuge in His presence keeps our emotions healthy, frees us from panic, and protects us from falling into the temptation of repaying evil for evil or polluting the heart with resentment.
  • Waking up every morning with a decision to praise Even when the threat lurks outside, David makes the determination to sing of the Lord’s power and unfailing love at the start of the day. Dedicating the first hours to prayer and worship transforms our mindset, silences the voices of discouragement, and empowers us to face daily responsibilities with joy and spiritual stability.
  • Moving forward with courage knowing that God fights for us Having the Lord on our side gives us the certainty that no difficulty has the final word over our home, our health, or our projects. When we stop acting in our own strength and lean on the authority of Christ, God Himself drives back spiritual adversaries and grants us victory where we previously only saw defeat.

Do not allow bad news, daily pressures, or the fragility of human resources to steal your peace or paralyze you along the way. Surrender every battle on the altar of the Lord today, maintain your communion with Him firmly, and walk with your head held high, convinced that when God goes before you, all opposition is torn down and His plans of blessing will be fully accomplished in your life.

Oh, please help us against our enemies, for all human help is useless. With God’s help we will do mighty things, for he will trample down our foes. Psalm 60:11-12 NLT

Think About It:
In what areas of your life have you been seeking the help of men first before consulting and depending on God?
What habits can you implement in your mornings so that praise and the Word of God govern your thoughts before beginning your tasks?
Identify today that difficulty or battle that has been keeping you awake, and pray, surrendering it to the Lord, declaring that with His help you will emerge victorious.
