He Waited Patiently
And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:15 (NKJV)
Waiting is never easy, especially when it comes to God’s promises. However, the Bible shows us that Abraham not only waited, but he did so with patience, trusting that the Lord would fulfill His word. This attitude is not about passivity, but about active faith that remains firm during the waiting season.
- Wait with expectation, not with doubt
Abraham did not simply “wait to see if something happened.” He waited with the certainty that what God had spoken would be fulfilled. That is the difference between natural waiting and waiting in faith: faith gives us an advance vision of what we do not yet see. - Faith feeds patience
Hebrews 11:1 reminds us that faith is the substance of things hoped for. When we know God’s backing is with us, waiting is no longer a heavy burden but an opportunity to grow in patience and trust. - Patience with joy
The patience that comes from God is not bitter resignation, but the ability to wait without losing joy, without allowing frustration or bitterness to dominate us. It means keeping a firm, trusting, and grateful attitude at all times. - Patience in the midst of trial
It is not only about waiting in calm times, but about enduring trials, delays, and setbacks without losing sight of the promise. True patience shines when suffering tries to steal our joy, but we decide to remain firm because we know that what God has spoken will come to pass. - The reward comes to the patient
The verse is clear: Abraham received the promise because he waited patiently. God honors those who trust Him beyond time and circumstances.
May this passage remind us that patience is not weakness, but spiritual strength that sustains our faith until the promise is fulfilled.
And so, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise.
Hebrews 6:15 (NKJV)
Think About It:
- Am I waiting with active faith or simply resigned to whatever happens?
- What promise of God is requiring patience from me in this season?
- How can I maintain joy while waiting for the fulfillment of His word?
