His Faith Grew Stronger

His Faith Grew Stronger

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous.
Romans 4:20-22 (NLT)

The apostle Paul reminds us that Abraham, even though he waited many years for the fulfillment of the promise, never stopped believing. His faith not only remained firm but grew stronger over time. In the Christian life, faith should not weaken in the midst of waiting or challenges; instead, it should grow because we know that God is powerful and faithful to fulfill what He has promised.

  • Faith grows stronger in waiting
Abraham did not receive the promise immediately, but over time he learned to trust God more. Each day of waiting was an opportunity to exercise his confidence.
  • Faith glorifies God
When we keep believing even in the middle of the impossible, God receives the glory. Our steadfast trust shows the world that we depend totally on Him and not on our own strength.
  • Faith is activated by what we see and experience
Just as Abraham grew stronger in faith by believing, our faith also grows as we witness miracles, hear testimonies, and personally experience God’s faithfulness. The recent miracles in the church are an example of how many people’s faith increased as they saw God’s hand at work.
  • Faith moves us to obey
True faith is not passive; it compels us to make decisions. Many, after seeing what God has done, decided to be baptized and give their lives to Christ. Faith leads to action and transforms lives.
  • Faith calls what is not as though it were
Just like Abraham, we must learn to declare God’s promises even if we have not yet seen them fulfilled. Faith takes hold of the future as though it were already present.

Just as Abraham was considered righteous because of his faith, we too can see God’s righteousness and promises manifest when we choose to believe without wavering.

Abraham never wavered in believing God’s promise. In fact, his faith grew stronger, and in this he brought glory to God. He was fully convinced that God is able to do whatever he promises. And because of Abraham’s faith, God counted him as righteous.
Romans 4:20-22 (NLT)

Think About It:

  1. What promises of God are you still waiting to see fulfilled in your life?
  2. How can your faith grow stronger in the waiting instead of weakening?
  3. What practical steps can you take today to show that you continue believing in God’s promises?
