A Thousand Years

A Thousand Years

Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. For them the second death holds no power, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years. Revelation 20:6 (NLT)

This morning I asked the Lord to speak something practical to me as I read Revelation in my daily reading plan. The book of Revelation is somewhat difficult to understand because it contains descriptions of many prophetic events, but I believe I found something practical for today: I must live with peace and rest now because God is in control of my present and my future.

  • We can have peace in our present.

I can have peace this Sunday even though we don’t have a service in the temple. Peace does not depend on our routine but on His control.

  • We can have peace in our daily tasks.

I must have peace in making that call to the bank to clarify the fraud claim I reported yesterday. God is in the details of our lives.

  • We can have peace about the future of the Church.

I must have peace because the end-of-year service will be supernatural, beautiful, and powerful. God is already working in what is to come.

  • We can have peace about our upcoming year.

I must have peace and rest because the year 2025 will be a year of blessing. God is aware of my family and of His church, ACFC.
Everything will be well in the future. The same God who holds the final prophecy in His hands also holds our day. Our hope is not temporary; it is eternal. We will continue to be priests of God, and as this promise declares, we will even reign with Him for a thousand years!

Think About It:

  1. In what present situation are you struggling to have peace and need to remember that God is in control?
  2. Is there any task or future event (such as the bank call or the service) that you need to surrender to God in peace?
  3. How does knowing that your eternal future is to reign with Christ for a thousand years change your perspective for today?
