No Flies
Because if you refuse to let my people go… the houses of the Egyptians will be filled with all kinds of flies… But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where my people live, so that no swarms of flies will be there…
Exodus 8:21–22 (NLT)
In this passage we see how God confronts Pharaoh’s stubbornness by allowing plagues to fall upon Egypt. At the same time, He reveals His special care for Israel by separating the land of Goshen from the judgment that struck the nation. While chaos advanced in Egypt, the area where God’s people lived remained clean, safe, and preserved. This contrast shows the protective and faithful character of the Lord toward those who belong to Him.
- God protects the area of those who trust in Him
Even when the environment is filled with evil or confusion, God can guard specific areas of your life that He Himself has set apart to bless and cover you. - The land of Goshen represents divine distinction
While Egypt suffered, God’s people experienced cleanliness and peace. Today, that distinction can be seen in your home, your mind, and your relationships. - Your home can remain in light even if others live in darkness
Although other marriages or families face chaos or “flies,” the Lord can bring spiritual, emotional, social, and financial health to your home. - The presence of God transforms any environment
Where God dwells, there is no place for spiritual plagues. His light removes darkness and establishes order and life. - God continues to make a distinction with His people
He knows those who belong to Him and sets them apart to show His faithfulness. It is not coincidence—it is intentional care from a God who fulfills what He promises.
Just as the land of Goshen remained clean in the midst of a country filled with plagues, God can also guard your area, your home, and your heart. Even if the world fills with darkness or evil, the Lord keeps in the light those who seek Him and walk under His covering.
If you refuse to let my people go… the houses of the Egyptians will be filled with all kinds of flies… But on that day I will set apart the land of Goshen, where my people live, so that no swarms of flies will be there…

Think About It:
- What areas of your life do you need God to set apart as “Goshen” to keep them clean?
- Are you allowing the light of God to govern your home above the external darkness?
- What practical steps can you take this week to strengthen the spiritual covering over your family?
