Simple Instructions, Watch Me
Then he said to them, “Keep your eyes on me. When I come to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do.”
Judges 7:17 (NLT)
In the middle of a decisive battle, Gideon did not give a long speech or complicated instructions. He gave a clear, simple, and easy-to-follow direction. This teaches us that in critical moments, clarity is essential. God uses simple instructions to produce supernatural results when there is obedience and faith.
- Good leaders communicate with clarity
Gideon understood that under pressure there is no room for confusion. Good communicators give instructions that are simple, direct, and easy to understand. Clarity prevents mistakes and allows everyone to move in the same direction. - Simplicity makes obedience easier
“Watch me and do the same” removes complexity. When instructions are simple, people can carry them out with confidence. Many times we fail to move forward because we complicate what God has already made clear. - Example reinforces instruction
Gideon did not only speak; he acted first. When he broke the jar, lifted the torch, and blew the trumpet, the others followed him. Example builds confidence and aligns the team toward a single action. - Listening and obeying is also a virtue
The three hundred men did not debate or question. They listened and acted in faith. There are moments in life when God does not explain every detail; He simply asks us to obey. - Faith acts even without full understanding
When God is about to work miracles, there is often no time for extended analysis. Immediate obedience opens the door to divine intervention and brings victory where it seemed impossible.
God continues to use simple instructions to accomplish great purposes. When we communicate with clarity and obey with faith, He takes care of confusing the enemy and giving us the victory.
Then he said to them, “Keep your eyes on me. When I come to the edge of the camp, do exactly as I do.”

Think About It:
- Am I complicating instructions that God has already given me clearly?
- How can I improve the way I communicate so others understand and act more effectively?
- What simple instruction do I need to obey today without questioning and with faith?
