The Enemy Wants to Divide Your Family

The Enemy Wants to Divide Your Family

And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Mark 3:25 NLT

Dear church, the family is God’s perfect design to manifest His love, fellowship, and reflect His character on earth. Because the home is the fundamental foundation of society and the church, it has become the primary target of the enemy’s spiritual attacks. In this passage, Jesus teaches us a powerful spiritual and relational truth: division is a highly effective destructive agent. The enemy of our souls knows he does not need to destroy the physical walls of your house to ruin your home; it is enough for him to sow discord, bitterness, and unforgiveness among family members. As the body of Christ, we must be alert and understand the strategies that attempt to fracture our family unity so that we can counteract them in time with the wisdom of the Word.

  • The subtlety of minor conflicts The enemy rarely attacks with a devastating crisis right away; he usually begins with small everyday disagreements, harsh words, or misunderstandings that are not resolved in time. If we allow anger and resentment to build up day after day, we are opening a spiritual door for division to take deep root in our home.
  • The lack of communication and drifting apart In a world full of distractions, screens, and busy schedules, individual isolation within the same house is a common trap. When we stop listening to each other, sharing our hearts, and genuinely caring for one another, the family bond weakens, making it easier for the ties of trust to break completely.
  • Pride and resistance to forgiveness Pride is the primary fuel for family division. When each member focuses solely on being right or defending their own rights instead of seeking peace, forgiveness becomes unattainable. A family that does not practice constant forgiveness becomes fertile ground for bitterness and separation.
  • Neglecting the family altar The strength of a home does not depend on its financial resources, but on its spiritual foundation. When family prayer, reading the Word, and constantly seeking God are set aside, the home is left unprotected against the enemy’s darts, losing the divine guidance necessary to overcome daily storms.

Protecting our family from division requires intentional effort, daily humility, and a deep dependence on the Holy Spirit. We cannot fight family battles with earthly weapons such as shouting, indifference, or manipulation. God has called us to be peacemakers and to raise a hedge of prayer around our loved ones. Today is the day to close every breach, ask for forgiveness if necessary, and decide that our home will be a refuge of peace, love, and unbreakable unity, solidly built upon the rock that is Jesus Christ.

And if a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. Mark 3:25 NLT

Think About It:
What personal attitudes or daily conversations are currently opening doors to discord in my home?
Which member of my family do I need to ask for forgiveness or forgive today in order to heal a fractured relationship?
What practical steps will we implement this week to reactivate prayer and spiritual fellowship as a family?
