Call to Me and I Will Answer You
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV
Jeremiah was imprisoned in the court of the guard while the Babylonian army was besieging Jerusalem, in a scene marked by pain, uncertainty, and the imminent collapse of the nation. In the midst of the isolation of the cell and the impossibility of finding a human way out, the word of the Lord came to the prophet to open direct access to the heavenly Throne. This verse teaches us that physical imprisonment or the limitations of our trials cannot block the line of communication with God, who invites His children to pray with intensity and expectation.
- The divine invitation to fervent prayer The verb “call” goes beyond a routine or lukewarm prayer; it implies a sincere, passionate, and deep plea from the heart. God does not ask us to remain silent in affliction, but to come to Him with holy desperation, placing every burden at His feet.
- The unconditional guarantee of an answer The Lord does not leave the prayers of His children to chance or overlook them. The promise “I will answer you” holds that God attentively hears every cry and answers in His perfect timing and according to His perfect will, granting us comfort and direction.
- The revelation of deep spiritual truths God commits to showing great things that are unreachable for human understanding. When we seek the Lord in deep prayer, the Holy Spirit opens our spiritual eyes to comprehend His purposes in the midst of the trial.
- Access to hidden treasures in the presence of God There are answers and blessings that remain veiled until we set ourselves to seek them in the intimacy of the altar. Continual prayer grants us discernment and heavenly wisdom to navigate the moments of greatest darkness.
Sincere prayer is the key that opens the door to divine intervention when all earthly paths have been closed. We are not abandoned to our fate nor do we depend on the reach of our limited understanding, for the creator of the universe has promised to hear and act on behalf of those who seek Him. By cultivating a life of intense and constant prayer, we will discover the depth of God’s love and behold the wonders that only His power can accomplish in our story.
