Because it became vain and arrogant
“Therefore, this is what the Sovereign LORD says: Because it became proud and arrogant, and because it set itself so high above the others, with its top reaching to the clouds, I will hand it over to a mighty nation that will destroy it as its wickedness deserves. I have already discarded it.” Ezekiel 31:10-11 NLT
In our walk, reaching goals and experiencing God’s favor can take us to places of great influence and victory. However, this passage warns us about one of the most silent and destructive dangers we face: allowing achievements to rob us of humility. When the heart fills with pride, we lose perspective of who is truly the source of our blessing, exposing ourselves to losing everything that God, with so much love, had entrusted to us.
- The danger of success going to our head We truly fail not when we lose something material, but when we allow vanity to dominate our mind. Pride blinds us and makes us forget the process, the effort, and, above all, the divine grace that sustained us during the years it took to reach our goals.
- The rapid destruction of what took years to build Arrogance acts like a poison that corrodes our foundations. All the prestige, influence, and blessings that we may have built with patience and dedication for a long time can quickly collapse when we let pride take control of our decisions and attitudes.
- The loss of future blessings Pride not only damages our present, but it disqualifies us for the future. By becoming vain, we close the door to higher levels of success and new blessings that the Lord had prepared for us, cutting short the original purpose He designed for our lives.
- Stealing the glory that belongs to God When we boast of our abilities and trust excessively in our own capacities, we focus solely on ourselves. This egocentrism leads us to believe we are the absolute masters of our destiny, robbing God of the worship, dependence, and glory that belong only to Him.
Maintaining a humble heart in the face of achievements is the only sure way to sustain success over time. Recognizing that every skill, every open door, and every triumph comes from the hand of the Lord protects us from falling. When we choose to surrender our crown at His feet and remember that without Him we are nothing, we ensure that His grace continues to flow in our lives, allowing us to enjoy His blessings without them becoming our ruin.
