Answers in the Midst of Difficulty
“When they call on me, I will answer; I will be with them in trouble. I will rescue and honor them. I will reward them with a long life and give them my salvation.” Psalm 91:15–16 (NLT)
As we walk through this world, we will inevitably face moments of crisis and challenges that threaten to rob us of our peace. However, as children of God, we have a wonderful assurance that transforms our perspective on adversity. We are not exempt from going through difficulties, but we have absolute certainty that the Lord not only hears us but also intervenes directly to care for us, protect us, and give us victory.
- God always answers our call Although our emotions may sometimes betray us by making us feel alone, our convictions will sustain us. We have great assurance because He has promised that when we call on Him, He will faithfully answer.
- We are never alone in our troubles Difficulties and problems in life are completely unavoidable. Yet we can experience deep peace as we read His promises and know that God will be with us in the midst of our difficulties, assuring us that we will make it through.
- He is our dependable rescuer When we feel trapped or held captive by the various difficult situations in this world, we have complete assurance that God will rescue us at some point. He will send His help like a specialized rescue team to bring us to safety.
- The Lord takes care of honoring us At times, we will face circumstances in which people try to belittle us. When others humiliate us, we do not need to despair or defend ourselves in our own strength, because God Himself will take care of vindicating and honoring us.
- A reward of salvation and long life His care is not only meant to deliver us from our present trouble but also assures us of a blessed future. He promises to reward us with a long life on this earth and, above all, to give us the assurance of His salvation.
Resting in these promises completely changes the way we live each day. When we face daily pressures knowing that the Creator of the universe is attentive to our voice, anxiety loses its power. No matter how dark our current situation may seem or how great the obstacle before us may be, we can move forward with our heads held high. We have the best ally by our side, ready to answer us, rescue us, and give us a truly fulfilling life.
