Deep Roots in God’s Love

Deep Roots in God’s Love

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” Ephesians 3:16–17 (NLT)

Today, it is vital to consider how we can remain strong and steadfast in the face of life’s various difficulties. We constantly wonder what resources can truly strengthen us and what makes us genuinely resilient: an abundance of money or an abundance of love.

  • The inexhaustible source of resources  In the midst of scarcity or uncertainty, there is only one source in the entire universe that truly never runs dry, and that source is our heavenly Father.
  • Strength in our inner being  We often focus on improving our bodies or changing our external circumstances, but we need to remember that strength in our inner being is what will give us true outward strength.
  • Roots in divine love  Our steadfastness in the face of storms comes when we sink our roots deep into God’s unconditional love rather than depending exclusively on the love of human beings.
  • The contrast with human love  Human beings often love in exchange for something, and their love can suddenly disappear when their agendas change, but God loves us unconditionally. People’s love is sometimes uncertain, but God’s love is secure.
  • The Father’s unshakable assurance  We cannot always depend on people’s affection or loyalty, but the Father’s love is unconditional, eternal, secure, and absolutely trustworthy.

When we decide to ground our identity and emotional security in our Creator’s love, human rejection or disappointment loses its ability to knock us down. Let us stop desperately seeking acceptance from earthly sources that will eventually change or run dry. By allowing Christ to dwell fully in our hearts, we will experience unshakable stability and supernatural resilience that will propel us to successfully fulfill God’s purpose in our families, ministries, and society.

“I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.”  Ephesians 3:16–17 (NLT)

Think About It:

  1. In what areas have you felt emotionally or spiritually weak and need the Holy Spirit to strengthen your inner being today?
  2. Have you been depending too much on someone’s unstable approval instead of grounding yourself in God’s secure love?
  3. Take a moment to pray and ask Christ to rule your heart and help you grow deeper roots in His eternal love.
