As for Me
“But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.”
Psalm 73:28 (NLT)
Psalm 73 is an honest reflection on the internal struggles many believers face. Asaph, its author, admits that seeing the prosperity of the wicked can at times stir up envy or confusion. But by the end of his meditation, he returns to the truth that sustains his faith: being near God is the best thing that could ever happen to him. It doesn’t matter what others do or decide—he takes a firm stand. As for him, his life will revolve around God. That declaration remains powerful and relevant today: when everything feels unstable, we can choose to live with conviction, commitment, and focus on the One who never changes.
1. I Will Stay Close to God
“But as for me, how good it is to be near God!”
Psalm 73:28 (NLT)
Today more than ever, we need clarity about who is truly at the center of our lives. Many will follow their own paths, do what seems right to them, or be led by emotion or trends. But I choose to stay close to God. Not because it’s popular, but because it’s wise. His will is my direction, His Word is my guide, His presence is my daily need.
“I delight to do Your will, O my God…”
Psalm 40:8 (NKJV)
God is not just an emergency resource—He is the center of my existence. I will include Him in my decisions, honor Him in my plans, and delight in His daily companionship.
2. God Will Be My Refuge and My Confidence
“I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter…”
Psalm 73:28 (NLT)
In a world where systems fail, human promises are broken, and uncertainty reigns, my security is in the Lord. Not in my abilities, not in my resources, not in what others can do for me. My hope is anchored in the eternal God.
“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank… Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.”
Jeremiah 17:7–8 (NLT)
When God is my refuge, the heat won’t burn me, the drought won’t dry me out, and fear won’t paralyze me. I can walk through hard seasons without losing my fruit, peace, or direction.
3. I Will Keep Sharing the Good News of the Gospel
“And I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.”
Psalm 73:28 (NLT)
While many remain silent, retreat, or settle for a private faith, I choose to keep speaking about Christ. Not with religious or complicated words, but with clarity, simplicity, and relevance. The gospel is still the power of God for salvation, and it deserves to be shared in a way others can understand and apply.
In my daily conversations—at the office, in a restaurant, or with friends—I will continue planting seeds of hope, truth, and purpose.
Not because I have all the answers, but because I’ve tasted that God is good—and I can’t stay silent.
I don’t know what others will choose, but as for me, I will keep telling of God’s wonders. With creativity, with passion, with truth. Because every conversation is an opportunity to plant an eternal seed.
“But as for me, how good it is to be near God! I have made the Sovereign Lord my shelter, and I will tell everyone about the wonderful things you do.”
Psalm 73:28 (NLT)
Think About It:
- Is your life revolving around God, or do you only include Him when you need something?
- Where are you placing your security—in what’s eternal or in what’s temporary?
- Are you sharing the gospel through your daily life in a clear, personal, and purposeful way?
