He Controls My Destiny
“So he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny.”
Job 23:14 (NLT)
In the midst of suffering, Job declared a powerful truth that fills us with confidence: God controls our destiny. Even though he didn’t understand everything he was experiencing, he knew his life was not adrift or in the hands of chance. We too can trust that God has complete control. Our past, present, and future are in His hands. Nothing escapes His knowledge or His sovereignty. God does not improvise with our lives—He follows a perfect plan guided by His love and faithfulness.
• My past was in God’s hands
Nothing I have lived has gone unnoticed by Him. Even my mistakes, my wounds, and my failures have been known by God and used to shape my character.
• My present is in His hands
Today I do not walk alone. He goes with me. He guides me, strengthens me, and protects me. Even when I don’t see clearly, His presence assures me I am in the right place.
• My future is secure in His hands
I don’t have to fear what’s coming. God doesn’t just know the future—He is already there, preparing every detail to fulfill His purpose in me.
• God will fulfill His plan, not mine
The Lord will carry out the plans He has for my life, not the ones I imagine. But His plan will always be better, wiser, and eternal (Psalm 138:8, NLT).
• God never abandons what He started
Philippians 1:6 (NLT) reminds us that He who began the good work within us will continue His work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns. He does not abandon His children halfway.
“So he will do to me whatever he has planned. He controls my destiny.”
Job 23:14 (NLT)
Think About It:
- Am I fully trusting that God is in control of my life, even in what I don’t understand?
- Have I let go of my desire to control my destiny in order to embrace God’s plan?
- What areas of my life do I need to surrender to God today with the certainty that He never fails?
