It Is a Calling
And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.
Hebrews 5:4 (NKJV)
The Christian life is not only about personal desires or aspirations, but about walking in the calling God has given us. He is the one who equips us, prepares us, and directs us to fulfill the purpose for which we were created. True fulfillment and true success are not found in doing what we want, but in living in the center of God’s will.
- The calling is from God, not from man
It is not enough to desire a position or a title. Aaron did not become high priest by his own will, but because God called him. In the same way, each of us has an assignment that comes from heaven. - The calling is tied to the gifts received
God designed us with specific abilities and talents to fulfill His purpose. Trying to live outside of that design only brings frustration, but walking in what He already prepared produces joy, peace, and abundant fruit. - True success is in the will of God
It is not about what I want to do, but about what God has already decided for me. A politician can be successful if he was called to politics, a businessperson if called to business, a pastor if called to ministry. Everything outside that framework is human effort without divine backing. - It does not depend on my effort, but on His mercy
Romans 9:16 reminds us that it is not of him who wills or of him who runs, but of God who shows mercy. Our responsibility is to discern His voice and obey, trusting that He opens the right doors at the perfect time. - Living within the calling brings direction and purpose
When I act under God’s guidance, every decision has meaning, every sacrifice has value, and every step brings me closer to His purpose. That gives me the assurance that my life is not an accident, but part of an eternal plan.
May our decisions this week be aligned with God’s calling, seeking not what I want, but what He wants.
And no man takes this honor to himself, but he who is called by God, just as Aaron was.
Hebrews 5:4 (NKJV)
Think About It:
- Am I living according to God’s calling or just following my own desires?
- What gifts and talents has the Lord given me that confirm His purpose in my life?
- What steps should I take this week to remain in the center of His will?
