Why Obey?

Why Obey?

If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Leviticus 26:3-4 (NKJV)

When God asks us to obey, He does not do it out of whim or to impose meaningless rules. His commandments are a safe path to blessing and fullness of life. Obedience does not limit me; rather, it opens doors to abundance, peace, and purpose. It is an invitation to walk hand in hand with God and enjoy all that He has prepared for His children.

  • Obedience brings rain from heaven
Rain represents blessing and freshness. Without rain there is no life, no fruit, no progress. When I choose to obey, I open the door for God’s rain to water my land, strengthen my roots, and produce abundant fruit in every area of my life (Psalm 1:3).
  • Obedience produces harvests
Every seed planted under obedience to God will bear fruit. He promises to multiply efforts and bring abundance not only materially, but also spiritually, in family, and emotionally. Obedience transforms small steps of faith into great harvests.
  • Obedience gives me peace
Disobedience robs peace and leads me into anxiety and trouble. But when I follow God’s ways, even in the middle of the storm, my heart remains at peace. This peace gives me rest, confidence, and even physical strength to endure difficulties (Leviticus 26:6).
  • Obedience opens extraordinary benefits
God not only promises basic blessings, but overflowing abundance. He delights in His obedient people and multiplies their lives in such a way that even the old must be left behind to receive the new and better that is coming (Leviticus 26:9-10).

Obedience to God is always worth it. His ways are higher than mine, and when I surrender to His will I lose nothing, but instead gain everything. To obey is to walk under the covering of His favor, knowing that He fulfills His promises.

If you walk in My statutes and keep My commandments, and perform them, then I will give you rain in its season, the land shall yield its produce, and the trees of the field shall yield their fruit.
Leviticus 26:3-4 (NKJV)

Think About It:

  • In what area of your life do you need to begin obeying God more?
  • What harvest are you waiting for, and how can you sow obedience to reach it?
  • What promise of peace or abundance can you remember today to strengthen your trust in obedience?
