Don’t Leave It for Tomorrow

Don’t Leave It for Tomorrow

“Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.”
Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV)

Many times we believe we’ll have “more time” later: tomorrow I’ll pray, tomorrow I’ll forgive, tomorrow I’ll reconcile, tomorrow I’ll start. But God’s Word confronts us with a simple truth: tomorrow does not belong to us. God gives us grace for today, strength for today, and opportunities for today. The enemy doesn’t always stop us with obvious sin — many times he does it with something more subtle: delay.

  • Procrastination is a spiritual trap
It isn’t always laziness; sometimes it’s fear, insecurity, or lack of priority. But when we postpone what God has already shown us, we lose moments that don’t come back. God’s calling carries urgency, because purpose isn’t fulfilled by intention, but by action.
  • Today is the time to obey
God rarely guides us with every detail of the future, but He does give clear instructions for the present. If God told you to do it, don’t wait until you feel “more ready.” Obedience isn’t measured by emotions — it is proven through decisions.
  • Opportunities don’t repeat themselves the same way
Some doors God opens are seasonal. Some conversations must happen at the right time. Some seeds must be planted when the moment is right. Delaying can cost more than we realize, because tomorrow may bring changes we can’t control.
  • Character is formed through small decisions, not big promises
Saying “I’ll do it tomorrow” sounds good, but character is built when you do what’s right even when it’s hard. Every time you choose to obey today, your faith grows stronger and your discipline increases. God honors the one who acts faithfully in the everyday.
  • God is already in your today
You don’t have to live anxious about the future. You only need to walk with God in this day. His mercy is new every morning, but your responsibility is to respond today. What you do today shapes much of what you will live tomorrow.

Today is a gift from God. Don’t waste it waiting for a “better moment.” If you need to ask for forgiveness, do it today. If you need to return to prayer, do it today. If God called you to begin, begin today. Tomorrow isn’t guaranteed, but the Lord is with you right now.

“Do not boast about tomorrow, For you do not know what a day may bring forth.”
Proverbs 27:1 (NKJV)

Think About It:

  1. What have you been postponing that God has already asked you to do?
  2. What decision can you make today to honor God with your time and obedience?
  3. Who do you need to call, forgive, or serve before it’s too late?
