The importance of being trained

The Babylonian empire had conquered Jerusalem, and King Nebuchadnezzar decided to take the brightest and most capable young men to serve in his palace. However, he did not put them to exercise executive functions immediately; first, he determined that they undergo a rigorous process of preparation. This passage shows us that even those who have been endowed by God with great talents and a special calling need to undergo a time of training and development before assuming greater responsibilities.
- Great leaders do not appear by accident Great leaders must be trained, mentored, and developed; Daniel himself was not put to serve in the government without first receiving three years of training.
- Prior experience is fundamental Executive functions in a team should not be given to a novice, but to a person who has already fully proven their capabilities in previous projects.
- Provide the necessary equipment We should not expect people to succeed if we do not first provide them with the necessary training to accomplish their task.
- Our role as leaders One of our most important roles as leaders is to recruit others and position them strategically for success.
- The duty to develop others We cannot give them an important task without first training, equipping, mentoring, developing, and stretching them to bring out their full potential, just as a good coach does with a champion.
- Select the right people To be able to dedicate our lives to training others, we must recruit the right people, ensuring that they are endowed with knowledge, good judgment, and are fit to serve.
Sustained success in life and in ministry is never the product of chance or improvisation. Behind every person who reaches places of influence, there is a process of intentional preparation and the intervention of mentors who invested time and resources in their development. When we understand the immense value of allowing ourselves to be formed and, at the same time, take on the commitment to equip those who come behind us, we ensure that God’s purpose expands with excellence. Let us value our seasons of learning and be intentional in becoming trainers of the next generation, so that together we can serve at levels of greater impact.
