Our Great Heavenly Inheritance

Our Great Heavenly Inheritance

All praise to God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. It is by his great mercy that we have been born again, because God raised Jesus Christ from the dead. Now we live with great expectation, and we have a priceless inheritance—an inheritance that is kept in heaven for you, pure and undefiled, beyond the reach of change and decay. 1 Peter 1:3-4 NLT

In this changing and uncertain world, people often seek security in temporary possessions, bank accounts, or human achievements that sooner or later wear out and disappear. However, as children of God, our true identity and hope are firmly anchored in heaven. The apostle Peter reminds us of the wonderful blessing of being born again, which completely transforms our perspective on the trials and difficulties of daily life.

  • A living and renewed hope Our faith is not based on passing theories or empty optimism, but on the real and powerful resurrection of Jesus Christ. This living hope inspires us to keep moving forward, knowing that the outcome of our story is secure in our Savior’s hands.
  • An unshakable heavenly inheritance Unlike earthly riches that can lose their value, the inheritance God has prepared for us is perfect. It is incorruptible because sin cannot touch it, undefiled because it has no flaw, and unfading because it will never lose its brilliance or beauty.
  • Reserved and kept in heaven We do not have to worry about losing this blessing or having someone take it from us, because it is secure in the Most Holy Place, guarded by God’s power. No one on earth can alter the glorious destiny the Father has designed for His children.
  • The purpose of temporary trials Although we may now need to experience various sorrows or difficult moments, these trials serve to refine our faith. Just as gold is tested by fire, our character is strengthened so that, when Jesus Christ is revealed, our faith may result in praise, glory, and honor.

Let us not allow the difficult circumstances of this world to rob us of the joy of our salvation. Remembering the wonderful inheritance awaiting us gives us the strength we need to endure any affliction with an attitude of victory. Let us keep our eyes fixed on what is eternal, living each day with gratitude and honoring the One who rescued us with His unfailing love.

Think About It:

  1. How does remembering my heavenly inheritance change my perspective on today’s problems and worries?
  2. What temporary attitudes or burdens do I need to let go of so I can focus my life on things of eternal value?
  3. How can I demonstrate a “living hope to those around me who are going through discouraging times?
