The Approval That Really Matters

The Approval That Really Matters

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. Galatians 1:10 NLT

In today’s world, we are constantly exposed to the pressure to fit in and be accepted by others. Social media, the workplace, and even our own circle of acquaintances can push us to seek human validation above everything else. The apostle Paul, writing to the believers in Galatia, faced a situation in which the gospel message was being distorted to please certain people. His firm response reminds us of what our true motivation and priority should be on this journey of success called life.

  • The danger of pleasing everyone When we live trying to win people’s approval, we quickly become slaves to their opinions and changing expectations. This robs us of peace and causes unnecessary anxiety and stress.
  • Our priority is to please God True spiritual, family, social, and financial success is not measured by society’s applause, but by remaining at the center of our Creator’s will and fulfilling His original purpose for us.
  • We cannot have divided loyalties Paul makes it very clear that it is impossible to be a faithful servant of Jesus Christ if our primary motivation is to gain the world’s approval. Often, the principles of God’s Word will go against the passing philosophies of modern culture.
  • The freedom of living for Christ When we surrender our need for human approval and focus our efforts on pleasing God, we experience profound freedom. We no longer need to pretend or compromise our convictions; we can be authentic and serve with a pure heart.

At the end of the day, the only opinion with eternal value is God’s. If we choose to conduct all our affairs according to His instructions, we will not only live with a clear conscience but also influence our families and society with an integrity that does not bend under the pressures of this world.

Obviously, I’m not trying to win the approval of people, but of God. If pleasing people were my goal, I would not be Christ’s servant. Galatians 1:10 NLT

Think About It:

  1. In what specific areas of your life have you been seeking the approval of others more than God’s approval?
  2. Evaluate whether you have made a recent decision solely to please others, and determine what you need to do to align it with God’s will.
  3. Commit today to standing firm in your biblical values the next time you feel pressured to compromise in order to fit in with a group.
