We Are No Longer Slaves but Children
“Now you are no longer a slave but God’s own child. And since you are his child, God has made you his heir.” Galatians 4:7 (NLT)
For a long time, humanity lived under the weight and bondage of its own mistakes, bound to a system that produced only fear, guilt, and distance. However, the sacrifice of Jesus Christ radically changed our spiritual and legal standing before the Creator. We no longer have to live with a mentality of servitude, begging for love or acceptance in the wrong places, because we have been rescued and adopted into the most important family in the entire universe.
- Freedom from the chains of the past When we accept Christ into our hearts, the bonds of our old habits, insecurities, and feelings of inadequacy are destroyed forever. We have no reason to keep dragging around a slave mentality when the Lord has already paid the price for our complete freedom.
- A firm and secure identity Being children of God means that our true worth does not depend on earthly achievements, social status, or material possessions. Our identity is now grounded in the unconditional love of the Father, who chose us before the foundation of the world.
- Direct and confident access to the Father A slave lives in fear and does not have the same rights as a child within the household. As beloved children, we can approach God with complete confidence in prayer every day, knowing that He listens attentively and longs to have constant fellowship with us.
- Heirs to inexhaustible promises Everything that belongs to the Father has been made available to us. God has made us heirs to His peace, His joy, His abundant provision, and all the blessings that guarantee our success in our spiritual, family, social, and financial lives.
Walking with our heads held high is the only logical response to the immense gift of divine adoption. When we deeply understand that we belong to the King of kings, fear of the future, anxiety over crises, and the need for human approval disappear completely. Living each day with the revelation that we are truly His children inspires us to leave a legacy of security and faith for future generations, demonstrating through our actions that God’s love transforms any empty life into an existence filled with purpose.

Think About It:
- Is there any attitude of slavery, fear, or guilt from the past that you still need to release to live fully as a child of God?
- In what practical way can you demonstrate today, at home or at work, that you trust in the inheritance and provision the Father has for you?
- Set aside a special time in prayer to thank God for adopting you into His family, and ask Him to help you walk in the assurance of your new identity.
