Cry to let it out

CRY TO LET IT OUT

Then Joseph hurried from the room because he was overcome with emotion for his brother. He went into his private room, where he broke down and wept. After washing his face, he came back out, keeping himself under control. Then he ordered, “Bring out the food!” (Genesis 43:30-31 NLT)

We are going to have difficulties in life and suffer emotional pain. What should we do? Is it good to cry or not?

Holding back your tears can be a mistake but crying all the time without resolving anything is also a mistake.

Denying our pain and holding back our tears only increases our anxiety, stress, blood pressure, and it turns us into toxic people. On the other hand, crying all the time paralyzes us. It robs us of our happiness, and we stop reaching the dreams and goals that we once had.

Solution: First, we give ourselves permission to cry when the pain is too much, but then we control ourselves to take action.
Jesus also cried, but then he controlled himself to raise Lazarus. (John 11:35)

Joseph cried, but then he controlled himself to be able to bless his brothers.

Wipe your tears, control yourself, get up, and move forward fulfilling the purpose of God for your life.

Then Joseph hurried from the room because he was overcome with emotion for his brother. He went into his private room, where he broke down and wept. After washing his face, he came back out, keeping himself under control. Then he ordered, “Bring out the food!” (Genesis 43:30-31 NLT)

Think about it:

Which of these two cases have not let you move on or be happy?
What situation are you going through that you have held back your tears for? Do you think it would help you to cry a little? Or, is it maybe that you have cried too much and it’s time to wipe your tears, control yourself and move on to fulfill God’s dreams for your life?
