LOT
As I read my Bible today, I was struck by Lot and what is said here about him. He was a just man who had to live in an unjust and perverse society. He was a good man who had to live in a bad world.
Frequently, the first thing I do when I think of Lot is to associate him with Sodom and Gomorrah, with the idea that he chose to live there; Therefore, that suggests that perhaps he was attracted to the way of life of that bad culture. But, today I reflect from another angle of history: he was fair, he suffered for that lifestyle of his city.
Does it look a bit like the world we live in today? Life is not easy. It’s not easy to deal with the intention of living as God commands in such a perverse society.
You want to be good, but people are bad. You want to be fair, but mechanics, plumbers and politicians are unfair. You want to be nice, but people are so hurt that they are rude to each other.
However:
1. I can make a small difference. I will be different.
2. I will live with hope. God will get me out of this. One day we will enjoy a place where there will be no more pain, tears or illness.
Think about it:
What bothers you about our current society?
What difference can you make in this land so full of perversity?
How does knowing that one day Jesus will come to take us to a better place help you?
