Use the Wisdom

Use the Wisdom

“And you, Ezra, according to your God-given wisdom, set magistrates and judges who may judge all the people who are in the region beyond the River, all such as know the laws of your God; and teach those who do not know them.”
Ezra 7:25 (NKJV)

Wisdom is a gift from God, but also a responsibility. Ezra was instructed by the king to use the wisdom that God had already given him. This reminds us that it is not enough to receive wisdom… it must be applied. Wisdom is not the same as intelligence or knowledge. We can know a lot, even have skills, but only wisdom allows us to apply what we know in a correct, edifying, and just way. God desires to give us wisdom, but He also expects us to put it into action for our benefit and for those under our influence.
Wisdom is to be used, not just admired
Having wisdom but not using it is like having a lamp turned off in the midst of darkness. God gives us wisdom so we can make the right decisions.
Wisdom is applied in practical life and in leadership
Ezra had to appoint just leaders, teach the law, and make decisions. Wisdom does not remain theoretical; it is manifested in concrete actions.
The source of true wisdom is God
It is not born only of experience, but of a relationship with God. The Word is our manual, and His Spirit, our counselor.
Asking for wisdom is a prayer that pleases God
Solomon asked for wisdom to lead, and God honored him. That is still a prayer that touches God’s heart (1 Kings 3:9–10, NLT).
God promises to give wisdom to those who sincerely ask
James 1:5 (NLT) assures us that if we need wisdom, we should ask our generous God, and He will not withhold it from us.

“And you, Ezra, according to your God-given wisdom…”

Ezra 7:25 (NKJV)

Think About It:

  1. Am I using the wisdom that God has already given me in daily decisions?
  2. In what specific area do I need to apply wisdom in this season?
  3. Am I actively seeking God to receive wisdom in this new assignment or stage of my life?
