What Is in the Place Where God Lives?

What Is in the Place Where God Lives?

For the Lord has chosen Jerusalem; he has desired it for his home.
Psalm 132:13 (NLT)

From the beginning, God has desired to dwell among His people. His presence is not a distant idea—it is a transforming reality. In this psalm, we see how God chooses a place to make His home. But it is not only about a geographical location—it is a spiritual principle: wherever God dwells, everything changes. When He lives in a place—whether a city, a family, a church, or a heart—His presence brings blessing. Dwelling where God dwells is the best place we can be.

  1. There is rest
God Himself declares that His presence is a place of rest. In the midst of noise, hurry, and the weight of life, the soul finds peace when it dwells with God.
“This is my resting place forever,” he said. “I will live here, for this is the home I desired.”
    Psalm 132:14 (NLT)
  2. There is prosperity
The presence of God releases blessing. Where He dwells, there is provision, growth, and advancement. This is not only about material wealth but prosperity in every area of life.
“I will bless this city and make it prosperous…”
    Psalm 132:15 (NLT)
  3. There is abundance of food
God not only satisfies the stomach but also the soul. He gives His Word, comfort, direction, and joy. In His presence, nothing essential is lacking to live in fullness.
“…I will satisfy its poor with food.”
    Psalm 132:15 (NLT)
  4. There is holiness
Where God dwells, there is transformation. He clothes His servants with holiness, setting them apart for His purpose. The presence of God purifies, cleanses, and uplifts.
“I will clothe its priests with holiness…”
    Psalm 132:16 (NLT)
  5. There is joy
In the place where God lives, there are songs of joy. No sadness can remain where He dwells. His joy is our strength, and His presence is the fullness of joy.
“…its faithful servants will sing for joy.”
    Psalm 132:16 (NLT)

For the Lord has chosen Jerusalem; he has desired it for his home.
Psalm 132:13 (NLT)

Think About It:
• Am I making my life and my home a place where God would want to dwell?
• Am I seeking rest, nourishment, and joy in His presence each day?
• What area of my life needs to be filled with the presence of God today?
