Guard the Joy at Christmas

Guard the Joy at Christmas

But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
Luke 2:10 (NLT)

Christmas is not just lights, gifts, or gatherings. It is a time when we are reminded that Jesus came to bring true joy, even in the midst of the darkest situations. However, we cannot ignore that many times this joy is threatened by people, circumstances, or internal battles. That is why we must learn to guard joy as something valuable, like a treasure heaven has entrusted to us. The birth of Jesus happened in difficult times, yet it brought hope in the middle of chaos. Today, He continues to be the source of our peace and joy.

  •  Put distance between yourself and toxic people

Just as there was a Herod at the first Christmas, there are also people today who want to steal peace.

Herod was insecure, violent, controlling, and manipulative (Matthew 2:3).

At Christmas, stay alert: do not allow negative people, unrepentant addicts, resentful individuals, or manipulators to drag you into their emotional drama.

You can love without allowing them to pull you into chaos. Guard your heart.

  •  Recognize that Jesus was born in difficult times

It was not an ideal season: Roman oppression, corruption, poverty, fear. Even so, God chose that moment to bring joy. You do not need everything to be perfect in order to celebrate with joy.

If this year has been turbulent, if waves have crashed against your life, remember: Jesus came precisely for that, to calm internal storms.

  •  Focus on the source of your joy

True joy does not come from what happens on the outside, but from who lives on the inside.

“For a child is born to us, a son is given to us… And he will be called… Prince of Peace.”
Isaiah 9:6 (NLT)

He is the Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the One who sustains your world when everything seems to be shaking.

  •  Let the peace of God guard your heart

Philippians 4:7 reminds us that the peace of God is greater than logic or reason. That peace acts like a guard over your mind and your heart.

This December, allow the peace of Christ to rule your emotions.

It is not about avoiding problems, but about facing them with supernatural peace.

But the angel reassured them. “Don’t be afraid,” he said. “I bring you good news that will bring great joy to all people.”
Luke 2:10 (NLT)

Think About It:
• Am I allowing people or circumstances to steal the joy that Jesus gave me?
• Who do I need to set healthy boundaries with this Christmas to protect my peace?
• Am I focusing my heart on Christ as my source of joy, or on what has not turned out the way I expected?
